Joining Requirements

SUMMARY

The basic requirements you must meet to join us are that you must have 2 yerars of an undergraduate degree left to study, be a full time student in our catchment area, satisfy our medical, fitness, and nationality requirements, and be selected on our selection board (a weekend in October).

SELECTION BOARD, Early OCT each year

If you cannot attend the selection board you may not join, and will have to wait to the next year. There are no late entries to ULOTC throughout the year - we take 1 mass intake a year in October and train them up over the year. There are no exceptions to this.

AGE

Although the TA Recruiting Policy is to recruit personnel up until the age of 32, this may not be appropriate to an organisation like ULOTC. Firstly, it is an Officers’ Training establishment therefore candidates should be eligible to enter Sandhurst upon completion of their degree. Furthermore, the suitability of candidates over the age of 25 may be questionable. All candidates over the age of 25 should be referred to the Commanding Officer; at who’s discretion the candidate may be allowed to continue with the Selection Process. Examples of when this may be applicable include candidates for PQO Commissioning Courses and older candidates seeking TA Commissioning. To apply over the age of 25 you must email recruiters@ulotc.co.uk. If you are over 25, you may want to consider looking at other branches of the Territorial Army due to our age limit. However, you are welcome to discuss this with the Recruiting Department on 0207 414 3898

UNIVERSITY STATUS

Applicants must be enrolled in a recognised Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree programme at one of the aforementioned institutions and in most cases should have at least two years left of their course. At the CO’s discretion those who are at Postgraduate level but are considering careers in the military, or have evidence of the pursuit of further education in London once they have completed their current course, may be considered.
