Activities

Apart from military exercises there are many other activities you can do whilst in the ULOTC. The ULOTC has expeditions running each year as well as activities each week such as shooting.

There are many non-military and military activities you can enjoy whilst in the ULOTC.

From parachting to horse packing, Officer Cadets on an expedition in 2004 to Canada got the chance to take part in a massive range of adventurous training opportunities in Alberta, Canada. Plus a quick detour to the local rodeo...

Dawn ripples across a tranquil loch in Scotland…
a chance to inhale slowly and settle your nerves before doing something extreme!

The OTC is your springboard for a bunch of adrenalin pumped adventure training, expeditions and courses. From working towards your Mountain Leader Qualifications on Cockney Jeboa, to ripping up waves, dropping off waterfalls and hanging from a cliff face by your fingertips, the OTC has it all.

You will find a wealth of extreme sports already on the OTC calendar, and if what you’re after isn’t there, make it happen! The Adventure Training PSI holds the course book for all the adventure training the army has on offer, so find what you’re after and bid for a place.

As the largest OTC in the country, you’ll inevitably find that whatever you’re into there are other people up for it. Keen climbers or those who want to learn should make themselves known to JUO Exelby, Kayakers and potential kayakers should speak to WOCdt Brusa or SUO Hogarth.

The army website has a wealth of information on the sports and adventure training available at: http://www.army.mod.uk/sportandadventure/index.htm

If you hear of an event you think the OTC should participate in, let your JUO know!
