1 Platoon OC JUO A MacDonald, - 1juo@ulotc.co.uk


During his time in the ULOTC JUO MacDonald has completed 2 fortnight long Annual Camps and over 15 training weekends, either being trained himself or assisting in the training of other companies. During summer 2007 he spent a month at Fort Lewis USA with the ROTC, the ULOTC’s American equivalent. In addition to the ‘green’ training JUO MacDonald has taken part in two week long expeditions to Snowdonia working his way up to the Mountain Leader Qualification. Following his degree JUO MacDonald may join the Territorial Army.

 




1 Platoon Sergeant OCdt D Fletcher, - 1platoonsergeant@ulotc.co.uk


Further to his MTQ1 and 2 training OCdt Fletcher has completed a number of exercises with the Royal Engineers, such as the OTC Bridging Competition 2007 and Exercise Cockney Sapper the previous year. During his time in the unit he has gained a first aid qualification free of charge and hold a Level 1 Light Gun qualification. A member of the ULOTC’s shooting team, he has competed at regional and national level against other TA units and army teams from around the globe. Following his degree OCdt Fletcher intends to join the regular army as an infantry officer.

 

 



1 Platoon 1 Section Commander WOCdt S Benson, - 1.1sc@ulotc.co.uk


Having completed the RCB prior to joining the ULOTC WOCdt Benson will attend Sandhurst in the latter half of 2008. During her time at the ULOTC she has completed the Level 1 Gunnery Qualification enabling her to operate in a number of roles on the L118 Light Gun. In addition to this WOCdt Benson holds a Phase 3 Signals Qualification, with the Electronic Warfare portion of the course being of particular interest to her. Further complementing the standard OTC training package WOCdt Benson has been to Italy with the ULOTC rugby team and Cyprus with the hockey team.

 

 



1 Platoon 2 Section Commander, OCdt JA Drohan -

During his time in the ULOTC OCdt Drohan has completed 2 Annual Camps and over a dozen training weekends, two battlefield tour (1 to Arnhem and 1 to Northern France) and a 32 day exchange visit to the USA with the ROTC. In addition to this he is also an active member of the ULOTC’s Rugby squad, has taken part in ceremonial duties and co-ordinated the medical aspects of the last recruiting campaign. OCdt Drohan is particularly fond of the ULOTC’s contingent mess and intends to pursue a career in the Territorial Army following the completion of his degree.

 

 



1 Platoon 3 Section Commander, Ocdt R Watson -

In his fourth year at the ULOTC OCdt Watson has taken part in three annual camps, countless training weekends and completed over 8 weeks of gunnery training with the Royal Artillery. In all OCdt Watson holds Level 1 and 2 L118 Light Gun, OP Operator (‘OP Ack’) and OP Controller (FOO) qualifications and has put these skills to work competing against other OTCs on 3 separate King George VI competitions. OCdt Watson has also taken part in the ULOTC’s annual adventurous training course in North Wales, earning his Summer Mountain Proficiency in 2005. In addition to his Section Commander duties he plays an active role in the unit photographing events and exercises and helping to maintain the website content.
