Rugby at ULOTC has always been popular but until last season, games were quite a haphazard affair. The 2005 / 2006 season saw the formation of a strong and dedicated squad, many of whom were from Athlone Company and therefore will form the basis of the squad for next couple of years.

We are always looking for new players to bring they’re particular expertise to the squad, be that on the field of play or for interesting party games afterwards!

The team has played at many tournaments and had a good level of success. We are hoping to progress our training regime as soon as the term starts and are looking to bring back as much silverware as we can carry! Several members of the squad were also selected to represent the London District Forces side in the RAF Akitori 10’s competition.

The squad is looking to expand to include both 15’s and 7’s teams and is expecting to get regular weekly fixtures against university teams and other OTC and Army units. It is also planned to enter teams in the more social mixed touch rugby tournaments.

In true rugby fashion the social side of the game is taken very seriously and a combination of the usual rugby trend for having a good time combined with our officer cadets ability to find the best spots in London has led to some fantastic nights out.
